The role of the free press

It is time the for the failing @newpattaya (yes, we are failing failing big time) to talk about the role of the free press in a democracy, and more importantly how we define a free press. You could argue that this is the right to say what you want all the time, but that would be totally wrong.

It is wrong to be AGAINST, AGAINST, AGAINST, all the time. That would be discrimination against someone because of personal feelings or because a particular media is serving a political agenda.

It is equally wrong to be SUPPORTIVE, SUPPORTIVE, SUPPORTIVE, all the time. When the media is being uncritically supportive we are in a place like China where there is no freedom of the press.

The media should be reporting accurately and fairly. If the media is reporting the truth there should be no reason to be afraid. But The New York Times, Huffington Post and The CNN among others have gotten things all wrong lately. These media outlets are truly trying to unseat a democratically elected President. They spend all their time trying hard to stir up trouble. They are AGAINST and they will always be AGAINST. Then these media outlets no longer deserve the right to be called the free press.

If I spent all my time trying to discredit a particular developer then that would be wrong. If I have something to say, then I would say it and then move on. But if I keep at it, desperately keep trying to dig up dirt as if I had a score to settle, then that would be wrong.

You know, it has gotten to the point where people that voice a different opinion than the journalists at The New York Times, Huffington Post and The CNN are blocked from posting on their facebooks. They have started to practice censorship of select comments which they feel are damaging to their propaganda.

I always thought that the journalists in the US were generally well educated. Now many of them have started a journey down the wrong path. They might be victims of mass hysteria, I am not sure. Whether you like Trump or not, is not the issue here. This is about journalists not doing their job well. This is about fake media. This is about journalists that are on a predefined mission. They have a fixed negative attitude towards Trump and that is NOT the role of the free press.

The free press in is supposed to report both the good and the bad.
